It is extremely relaxing just to stay at Casa Aventura for the first couple of days (or, for that matter, the whole week!). Lie by the pool basking in the sun and sip a beer or a glass of wine. Then perhaps walk or cycle into town before enjoying dinner at Casa Aventura and then retire to the bar with your friends for the rest of the evening.

If you are the energetic type Casa Aventura has it all - scenic walking, adrenalin pumping mountain biking, the off road driving adventure of a lifetime, or if you prefer two wheels to four, motocross, enduro and trail riding.

At Adventure Velez you can get behind the wheel of one of our specially prepared Jeep Wranglers for your own personal off road driving experience.  Our off road holidays in Spain will have you driving rough, rocky terrain and trails in breathtaking mountain surroundings - all designed to teach you new technical driving skills under the watchful eye of our experienced off road instructor, Peter.

We also run convoy expeditions for groups where clients can be guided expertly and safely along the beautiful Los Velez trails.

We develop and run professional conference events and incentive programmes for companies, we provide formal proficiency training for those who own or use 4x4's at work - utility companies, councils, rescue operators and aid workers to name but a few.

There's quad-biking, tandem paragliding (instructor, Steve can also provide information on flying sites, weather conditions and guide paragliding pilots who have experience and their own equipment), horseriding, or be taught to scuba dive by an experienced and fully-qualified instructor. The marina in Garrucha, is a 45-minute trip by car. It offers something for both the amateur and professional seafarer, with day trips or yacht charter to discover the more inaccessible coastline. This is available to guests by prior arrangement.

If your tastes run to quieter pursuits, at Casa Aventura we offer painting, photography and bird-watching holidays at certain times of the year. (Ask us for more details).

The stunning Natural Park Sierra Maria - Los Velez also plays host to many adventurous pursuits other than walking.

We can organise an exciting and safe experience into a Karstic cave. All hikes are led by qualified and knowledgeable guides and all caving equipment: helmets, lights, gloves and knee pads, are provided.

Similarly the park's peaks can be climbed accompanied by the professionals. It is an important area for mountain climbing and the Penon de Pio or the Solana del Castellon, in Velez Rubio, are popular, although climbers can also practice on the Rockodrome in nearby Chirivel. Again all technical climbing equipment can be provided.

At Casa Aventura we have our own quality mountain bikes for daily or weekly hire. We have a full range of frame sizes to ensure we have a bike to suit everyone, and we even have mountain bike trailers for the little ones.

For the more advanced rider why not bring your own bike and take advantage of the run of several hundred kilometres of mountain tracks, Ramblas (dry riverbeds), Caminos (field and woodland trails), and Barrancos (dried out creeks).

Detailed maps of the area can be supplied if you wish to explore on your own, or transport can be provided for you and your bike to the nearby Natural Park where there are miles of specialist cycle trails for you to discover.

The beautiful countryside boasts glorious beaches and historic, traditional Spanish small towns, or why not travel further afield on organised excursions to the magnificent city of Granada, home of the extraordinarily well preserved Alhambra Palace, described as the most exciting, sensual and romantic of all European monuments. Virtually everything of interest in the city is within easy walking distance of the centre.

Nearer to home is Mini-Hollywood where A Fistful of Dollars, The Good and Bad and the Ugly, The Magnificent Seven and over a hundred other westerns were filmed. You can dress up in chaps and watch a gun-fight at the site where these classics were filmed and which is now a theme-park.

There are a considerable number of golf courses within 45 minutes drive of the house. Our guests have enjoyed rounds at the Valle del Este Campo de Golf in Vera: www.valledeleste.es and the Marina Golf Club in Mojacar: www.marinagolf.com .

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada in Granada is one hour's drive away and offers skiing to suit all abilities on quality pistes. The resort boasts an extended ski season and there are also varied apres ski facilities. We can arrange transport, ski-hire and passes.
